Biography
Elina Karpacheva is an attorney-at-law with strong research background and interest in comparative research methods. Prior to this she worked as a lecturer at the UNWE, where she completed her PhD.
Elina studied conceptiually the corporate governance regime for independent and professional decisin-making of Bulgarian JSCs. In addition to this, she has been involved in a broad range of research activities, related to the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance, the structure, responsibilities and independence of Corporate Boards, Liabilty of Directors and Regulatory Compliance.
Elina has experiance at the European Commission where she was responsible for the sound financial management of European structural funds and had a trainning in OLAF on fraud prevention. Elina is also involved in various projects with Bulgarian Stock Exchange.
"I believe that legal advice must be combined with good understanding of economics, management and audit. In the globalized world where many legal regimes interplay with each other, being a black-letter lawyer is not enough anymore."
